As a midwife specializing in women’s health and concierge care, I offer a range of comprehensive services. These include gynecological exams, family planning, contraception counseling, menopause management, hormone health, health screenings, preventive care, and general primary care services. Additionally, I emphasize a Health at Every Size approach, promoting body positivity and providing compassionate care to women of all sizes.

Health at Every Size (HAES) is an approach that promotes the idea that health and well-being are not determined by body weight or size alone. It emphasizes the importance of adopting healthy behaviors, such as balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and self-care, without focusing on weight loss as the primary goal. HAES recognizes that people of all sizes can pursue health and that weight does not necessarily equate to health or worth. It aims to challenge weight-based discrimination, promote body acceptance, and support individuals in cultivating a positive relationship with their bodies while prioritizing holistic well-being.

Shared decision-making is a key aspect of my practice, emphasizing collaboration between healthcare provider and patient. I provide clear information, listen to patients’ concerns and goals, and consider their values and preferences. Together, we navigate treatment options, discussing risks, benefits, and alternatives. I offer educational resources and create a safe space for open dialogue. By empowering patients to actively participate in their healthcare decisions, shared decision-making promotes patient autonomy, improves satisfaction, and leads to better health outcomes.

I consider myself to be a Health at Every Size (HAES) healthcare provider. Generally, a HAES provider does not provide weight loss medication because HAES focuses on promoting holistic well-being, body acceptance, and healthy behaviors rather than weight loss. HAES recognizes that weight is not a reliable indicator of health and prioritizes interventions that improve overall well-being and health markers instead of solely focusing on weight. The emphasis is on developing a positive relationship with one’s body and supporting sustainable healthy habits, regardless of weight.

Choosing a midwife for women’s health and primary care offers several benefits. Midwives have a focus on holistic and personalized care, with an emphasis on empowering women to actively participate in their healthcare decisions. Midwives often spend more time with patients, providing education and support throughout their healthcare journey. Additionally, midwives are well-equipped to provide comprehensive care across a woman’s lifespan, from adolescence to menopause and beyond.
